COVID 19 & Suspension of Public Worship

Dear Friends in Christ:

In order to slow and halt the potential spread of Covoid -19 virus tomorrow's Sunday service (March 15) at St. John's has been cancelled.

I have attached and in the body of this email is the letter from  the Archbishop. If you do not see someone's name on the list of addresses please call them or forward this email to  inform them of the tomorrow's cancellation.

Please  pray. Though we will not be together as the physical body we are always one in Spirit.   Some suggestions for prayer tomorrow and everyday until this health situation is under control....... Start with Psalm 23 and 121. Read them aloud slowly.

Use pew prayer from Sunday March 8th specifically about strength to deal with the virus and hope in our God.  End with the familiar  prayer "As our savior Christ has taught us, and we are bold to say,Our Father.... There may be a hymn or Taize chant that feeds your Spirit - sing/hum it.

Here is the Pew prayer...

“Holy and gracious God, give us strength to meet the health crisis

growing in our world. Enlighten researchers that they may

discover the right vaccine against this disease. Bring together

agencies around the world that they may work together to

eradicate this health crisis. Guide the doctors and nurses and all

medical staff working with those who are infected that they may

be protected as they care for their patients. We pray for those

who are ill or isolated because of this virus, that they may know

your love and care as it comes to them through human hands.

We pray also for those who have died and for the bereaved that

they will know the consolation of your love. Keep us mindful of

our responsibilities during this time of anxiety and enable us to

do all we can in our homes, churches and communities to

alleviate the risk of spreading the virus. All this we ask through

Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen”

Here is an email from the Archbishop.  Her letter is attached.  Unfortunately I am not able to turn this pdf file into a word document.

Archdeacons and regional deans  please distribute to parishes in your deanery.

Dear people of God in Algoma and Moosonee,

It is late on Friday evening at the end of what has been a very difficult week in our world. The bishops of Ontario have been in touch with one another throughout the day as we have been monitoring the situation with respect to COVID 19 and following the cancellation of gatherings and other events in the Province. Churches in most denominations have decided to suspend their services of worship, and after another consultation this evening we have decided to suspend services in our dioceses.

Attached you will find a letter from me to the Province.  I am recommending that services of worship be suspended as of this Sunday, and I hope that it will not be too difficult for you to reach your parishioners tomorrow to let them know.

There are several other events coming  up in Algoma and Moosonee in the next few weeks and months, and I will be in touch about them, as well as funerals and weddings.  We need to take this one day at a time right now as things are changing very quickly. Know that I will do my best to communicate well and often in the next little while and I ask for your prayers and your patience.

May the peace of Christ be with you this night and always,

+Anne

I will keep you up to date as efficient as able.  PRAY...it is our most effective tool and we know it works.

Peace...your sister in Christ
