Letter from Rev. Beth

Sunday October 18, 2020

My dear Friends:
Recently some of you have asked about my intentions of renewing of my contract as your Incumbent for the next year.

As priests we pray and listen to where God may be calling us and what might be the next step in our ministry. Sometimes it is to remain where we are and other times it is to move onto another ministry.

After much thoughtful consideration and prayer, I have answered the call to continue work at the Hospital as a chaplain. Participating in both ministries has been a wonderful experience. I have grown to love my ministry at St. John’s with all of you. And you have been so kind, patient and encouraging to me as I have navigated the ways of being part of a larger congregation and church building.

It has been a difficult decision yet with much prayer, I have decided not to renew my contract at the end of the year. There are two main reasons. One I feel strongly called to continue to work as a hospital chaplain. The second reason is to spend more time with my family. Though this is not easy right now-having to tell you-I feel a sense of God’s peace as I move forward.

Archbishop Anne, Archdeacon Joan and the Venerable Dr. Jay Koyle with the wardens will discern, ponder and pray the next steps for St. John’s.

During this time, let us keep Proverbs 3:5-6 in our hearts and minds as we traverse the next couple of months together.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.

Your sister in Christ,
