Letter of Thanks

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Just days ago we gathered together as one community under God to recognize through a glorious celebration the start of our new relationship together.

We bore witness to the coming together of three separate congregations and me; the new Incumbent. It is important to understand that this joining together is an example of what happens when we give ourselves to God. It is neither an accident nor a coincidence that our lives have joined together. It was through prayerful discernment and through the Grace of God that brought us together as one.

I would like to take this moment to thank each and every one of you for the warm welcome that both my son Nicholas and I have received. It is heart warming indeed to be part of a loving caring and supportive community.

I would also like to thank all of the presenters, and readers for agreeing to take part in our celebration of new ministry. I understand that itas not easy to run from one service to the other while fulfilling your other commitments. Without your participation there would not have been anything to celebrate. The tools offered that day that epitomizes Ordained Ministry are special reminders of fulfilling Christ’s earthly ministry objectives that I aspire to follow.

Let us begin our new life together in keeping with early Twentieth Century Theologian Thomas Merton’s wonderful quote concerning love. He once wrote so eloquently, “The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.”

Your servant in Christ,

Fr. Kevin McAllister
