Odds and Ends - May 26, 2021
Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well and taking advantage of the warm weather and sunshine. The little bit of rain we have been blessed with is great for our gardens.
Speaking of gardens, I have to share a picture of a beautiful garden belonging to Leo and Mairi in Belleville, Ont.
It just so happens that Mairi is Pam and Peter Handley's daughter and anyone who is familiar with Pam's gardening skills will recognize that the apple doesn't really fall far from the proverbial tree.
Pam has a number of geraniums that she is trying to find a new home for and I am sure if you called her she would be happy to share them with you.
Speaking of Pam, she and Peter recently celebrated a wedding anniversary and I am sure you all join me in wishing them well.
Eunice Saari celebrated her birthday last week and again I am sure you will join me in wishing her a belated, but very happy birthday.
Once again, Lynda Hughes would like me to thank all those who have donated to the Food Shelf with their time, money and donations of food.
Items on the shopping list this week are powdered or canned milk, sugar and instant coffee.
Irv Dyck was kept busy for a little while yesterday trying to find which grocery stores have any of the items on sale and it seems that instant coffee is the only item listed on sale in the flyers.
Nescafe Coffee (170 g) $3.77
Maxwell House Coffee (150g) $2.47
The front doors leading to Bliss Gillmor and the David Johnson Parish Hall are open every day from 10 to 11 a.m. The door remains locked the other 23 hours of the day. However, if you would like to drop something off at another time. I am in the office, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from about 9 to 3 p.m. You can call me on my cell phone at 705-303-7931 and I will come down and let you in.
Peter Balfe's mother Jessie passed away recently, just three days short of her 99th birthday. Please remember Peter and all her family in your prayers.
Also a reminder that the Prayer Warriors are praying for each and everyone one of us every day.
Rev. Grahame's Easter booklet
I have had a number of requests for Rev. Grahame's Easter booklet. I am still doing the layout but I should have it completed next week. Anyone interested can just email me and I will send it out to you.
If you have anything you would like to share with everyone just let me know and I will include it in next week's Odds and Ends.
Until then, stay safe, love your neighbours and keep smiling,
