you hear the news….well let me tell you…..” Happy are the people who hear the joyful call to worship,  for they will walk in the light of your presence, O Lord.”  Will you join me?

Dear Friends:

Bikes for Bibles: Riding your bicycle Is a wonderful and fun way to meet other people from different churches in our community. This yearly event is organized by the Canadian Bible Society (CBS). CBS is partnering with Military Chaplains across Canada to support the mental and spiritual health of the men and women in uniform serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. This is a leisurely 26-km round-trip ride for all ages along the Kate Pace Way, with a break at Centennial Park in Callander, ON. The ride will end with a free BBQ back at Lee Park. Register here.

Reopening:   There is hope.  For some parishioners, the last few months have been a wilderness experience. We have missed being in community, sharing our stories and doing God’s work together.  Some have been sitting on the edge ready to leap when the time is right. There is hope. God willing we anticipate that on Sunday September 13th we will have our first service together for those who are ready to return in person.   More details will follow.

Evening Prayer Services are back! This is a wonderful time of fellowship and worship.  Mark your calendar for Thursday evenings at 7:00pm.  Look for the Zoom invitation on Wednesday.

Finances:  Our bills continue to arrive!  Fortunately the Diocese has been successful in securing some funds from the Emergency Wage Subsidy program, and St. John’s has benefitted from this program.   However, “we are in need.” You may use any of these methods—EOP, etransfers, Canada Helps or the post—to submit your offering to help St. John’s stay on top of the expenses!  Thank you.

Sympathies and Prayers:  Peter Randalland  Bill Nichol recently died.  Do remember them in your prayers and pray for their families and friends who are grieving.  Also remember Vina Trowsdalethe mother of Red Trowsdale, who died recently. Both Red and Bev Trowsdale are faithful members of Christ Church.

Worship.  Here is the link.

Open Arms and Food Shelf:  These ministries are thriving. Open Arms serves both the guests who drop by for their take-out meal as well as meals to the Warming Center.  Food Shelf resumed last week with a great team of parishioners bagging items.

Have a blessed week.

Your sister in Christ,

Beth+
