Rev. Beth's Weekly Letter - May 24th
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19)
The message at our Evening Prayer service was Matthew 28: 19. Another way to look at our call to make disciples is: to show up, be available and God will do the work! We are not alone in answering this call. God has our back.
Do join us on Thursdays at 7:00pm via Zoom. This past week we had one person from Haileybury and another from Iroquois plus 19 friends from the area churches.
Hope In The Storm Listen to David Jeremiah’s perspective on being sheltered by God during the pandemic. It takes the sting out of being in isolation or being quarantined. Thanks to Eric and Joy McGill for this gift of hope.
Guatemala Education and Literacy Program Thursday (May 28th) at noon. Joe Berninger is a member of the Rotary Club in Ohio. He has been instrumental in leading and shaping the education and literacy program in Guatemala. His thirty five minute presentation gives an overall picture of how the program has reduce poverty. He has photos of the students that St. John’s sponsors but you will be surprised by how comprehensive this program is. The Sunday School group and older young people may be very interested in this presentation. Look for the Zoom invitation on Wednesday.
Financially the treasurer -Irv Dyck- says we are in the black! Thank you for your continued generosity for supporting God’s mission during the pandemic.
Enjoy the weather. Memorial Drive is closed to cars again this weekend. A great place to walk, bike, run and/or sit and watch the water, boats and people….. easily keeping a safe physical distance.
Blessings on your week.
