Organ Dedication

In December 2019 a new Phoenix Organ was installed for worship at the church. The organ was paid in full by two sources. The Whatmore Fund and a generous anonymous donation from a family in the congregation.

For various reasons the organ was not dedicated when installed. COVID occurred and the church was closed until it was safe to reopen for worship.

There is an ancient proverb that states: “One who sings….prays twice.” In the New Testament believers are commanded -not once, but twice in the letter to the Ephesians and the letter to the Colossians to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to one another when we meet.

Music is invaluable to worship. Music acts as a vehicle for people of faith to feel the presence of God and the Holy Spirit among us. St. John’s is fortunate to have this wonderful instrument and the many talented musicians who play it for our worship to praise God.

St. John’s Garage Sale was not only huge, but very successful and most importantly, great fun.

There were hundreds of items for sale at St. John’s garage sale and there was a steady stream of visitors who looked, touched, and purchased at least 75 per cent of the items that were for sale. There was everything from dishes and furniture to coffee, tea, muffins and plants.
